I love sensible, smart puppies! They make life with a canine companion so much more enjoyable and easy to navigate. I’ve seen it all in the world of doggie personalities. Remember, I owned a wildly popular “Bed & Biscuit” (a boarding kennel, of course, but we didn’t like to call it that). Kind-hearted, trainable, beautiful, smallish dogs are truly the exception to the rule.

When I decided to raise dogs a few decades ago, I started with one of the noisiest breeds on the planet (sorry, Dachshund lovers!). They were cute as bugs and LIVED TO BARK,,, after a few years, I knew there had to be a calmer dog to spend my days with.

Then, in Scotland many moons ago, I saw a litter of Cavalier King Charles puppies (in a wicker basket, traveling on a train, no less!!) and was totally smitten. Ah, but when I realized that the dear Cavaliers were shedding machines and that combining that most beautiful of spaniels with the Poodle or Bichon resulted in not only the dreamiest temperament in the world, but a sturdy little dog with the heart of an angel. Well, almost all of the time, after all, puppies will be puppies lol.

Now, these many years later, I am still blissfully in love with these little creatures. Candy Cane Lane is a perfect example of what I look for in a puppy, beauty, yes, (that gorgeous color with all those ice white accents), but also, most importantly, a sweet-natured puppy who knows how to play, how to snuggle, has the most wonderful sense of humor and is simply chock-full of the best characteristics that make a fabulous family companion. She is stunning, yes, but she’s also a sporty and entertaining little miss you’ll fall in love with every day you have her ❤️
