I love everything about this boy, and so will his adoring public. Yes, he’s undoubtedly a beauty, but he also has the most wonderful disposition and a quirky, lovable personality. One moment, he’s stately and older than his years, gazing off in the distance with a philosophical attitude, undoubtedly pondering where he hid his nylabone or perhaps what might appear in his dinner dish.

Then, in the blink of an eye, he’s cantering like a circus pony round and round with a gleam of mischief in those peepers, his purple dinosaur in his mouth, trying to tempt someone into a game of catch me if you can!

An altogether utterly charming puppy, he is even more amazing in person, from the tip of his black button nose to the end of his waggy tail. This is the perfect canine companion, one who will make your heart sing, too. I pinky promise!

I don’t run across many people who have ever read the collie books by author Albert Payson Terhune. He remains one of my favorite writers, and I cut my dog fancier’s teeth on his thrilling stories of Lad, A Dog, Treve, and his incredible blue merle Collie, Gray Dawn, one of the reasons I first sought to raise puppies like Dusty Blue and send home tiny elephants with many of my puppies.

Most of them are only available through vintage book sellers nowadays, but if you have a dog-loving child who is a reader, do look some of them up. They, too, might fall in love with those grand dogs of a lifetime ago, and find themselves hopelessly smitten, with a love for dogs that will enrich all their days, and better scoop up Dusty; they’ll need a good dog to cozy up with while doing all that reading!
