Growing a Healthy Dog
As many of you know, I am passionate about finding natural ways to keep our dogs healthy. I even founded a company that had an extensive line of truly incredible pet care products, from what were arguably the best dog probiotics on the market to excellent shampoo and grooming products, from safe household cleaning to natural flea and tick controls. I spent almost a decade creating products that I knew were the best on the market, only to find myself reluctantly closing the doors of Agatha’s Pet Wellness when we were literally just on the verge of what felt like amazing success.
The arrival of Covid turned life for this small retailer of pet products into a nightmare. From the maddening daily warfare of Amazon issues to the almost impossible task of sourcing new inventory, the chaos of finding bottles (every bottle in the nation seemed to be filled with hand sanitizer) and then, last but not least, a threatened lawsuit over the use of the word “Wellness” in our brand name was literally the last straw.
And though assured that we would win if we went to court, I felt that it was simply too much. I’m, first of all, a dog breeder; that’s the passion of my life, and the headaches and struggles to keep Agathas afloat were just too much, and I reluctantly but also, with a sigh of relief, closed our doors in July of 2021.
